Louisville High School students improve ACT® scores after Jumpstart Test Prep review
Jumpstart Test Prep announced the ACT® exam improvement results from Louisville High School’s students spring test date following the classroom implementation of the Jumpstart Review. Of the students having at least one prior ACT® score for improvement comparison, 58% improved prior best actual ACT® Composite score by an average 2.32 points, and in each subject area, the students’ scores improved by 52% in Math (+ 2.40 pts. avg.), 45% in Science (+ 3.74 pts. avg.), 63% in English (+ 3.35 pts. avg.), and 51% in Reading (+ 3.57 pts. avg.)!
Top achievers from the area were recently recognized and include:
• Myaasia Johnson (Composite +3 pts., English +8 pts., and Reading +4 pts.)
• Jayden Stapleton (Composite +8 pts., English +6 pts., English +3 pts., and Science +6 pts.)
Louisville student Jayden Stapleton commented, “Jumpstart really helped me increase my ACT® score. I really liked the Math portion of it because they instructed you how to do each problem.”
“Jumpstart helped me improve my English ACT® score by reviewing modules on punctuation,” said Myaasia Johnson.
These improvements are not possible without the diligence and support of the teachers tasked to help raise scores at Louisville.
The guidance and encouragement of administration also plays a huge role in raising scores. Principal Danya Turner commented, “Louisville High School is very appreciative of the efforts made by our teachers and students to implement this program to increase student success on the ACT®. We look forward to continued growth and success as we focus on winning each day.”
Jumpstart Test Prep is an online review program based on over 50 years of work by Dot McClendon, a legendary educator and Mississippi's 19-year STAR teacher Hall of Fame inductee. "As a teacher at The Mississippi School of the Arts and several other schools during my career, I was able to help guide the preparation of students in person," said McClendon. "Now through our online, on-demand video review, students in Louisville classrooms, as well as classrooms around the country, around the breakfast table, or on the couch at home, are able to benefit from our approach."
