WEST BOLIVAR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IMPROVE ACT® SCORES AFTER REVIEWING WITH JUMPSTART TEST PREP
47% Improved prior best actual ACT® Composite score by an average 2.44 points.
ROSEDALE, MS.- Jumpstart Test Prep announced the ACT® exam improvement results from West Bolivar High School students' spring test date following the classroom implementation of the Jumpstart Review. Of the students having at least one prior ACT® score for improvement comparison, 47% improved prior best actual ACT® Composite score by an average 2.44 points, and in each subject area, the students’ scores improved by 32% in Math (+ 3.00 pts. avg.), 53% in Science (+ 5.50 pts. avg.), 68% in English (+ 3.92 pts. avg.), and 26% in Reading (+ 1.60 pts. avg.)!
Top achievers were recently recognized and include:
- Nataria Jennings (Science +11 pts., English +6 pts., and Composite +5 pts.)
- Abriana Lewis (Science +4 pts., English ++6 pts., Math +4 pts., and Composite +3 pts.)
- Jatavian Lewis (Reading +4 pts., English +2 pts., and Math +2 pts.)
- Kamien Miller (Science +5 pts., English +4 pts., Math +6 pts., and Composite +3 pts.)
- Ladariun Mobley (Science +9 pts., English +9 pts., and Composite +4 pts.)
Student Ladariun Mobley commented, “Jumpstart helped me with time management and the Science section. It taught me how to read and dissect the problems to find the right answers, and for Reading, it taught me how to skim through passages to get the information that I needed to answer the questions.”
These improvements are not possible without the diligence and support of the teachers tasked to help raise scores at West Bolivar High School.
The guidance and encouragement of administration also plays a huge role in raising scores. Principal Dr. Londeria Taylor-Hayes commented, “Congratulations to our students on all of their hard work. I look forward to seeing our students do great things.”
Jumpstart Test Prep is an online review program based on over 50 years of work by Dot McClendon, a legendary educator and Mississippi's 19-year STAR teacher Hall of Fame inductee. "As a teacher at The Mississippi School of the Arts and several other schools during my career, I was able to help guide the preparation of students in person," said McClendon. "Now through our online, on-demand video review, students in West Bolivar classrooms, as well as classrooms around the country, around the breakfast table, or on the couch at home, are able to benefit from our approach."
