2022-2023 Mississippi Pilot ACT® & ACT® WorkKeys® Research

The Mississippi Department of Education, through the Office of Secondary Education, is pleased to announce that the Mississippi Legislature has made appropriation for Jumpstart Test Prep's Complete English & Reading Review course to help prepare over 3,000 Mississippi 11th grade public school students prior to mandatory ACT® testing in the spring of 2023 and over 1,000 Mississippi 12th grade public school students prior to ACT WorkKeys® testing in the Spring of 2023

Jumpstart Test Prep's review courses were developed by Mississippi's 19-year STAR teacher, and STAR teacher hall-of-fame inductee, Dot McClendon. This program leverages her 40+ years of experience helping students perform their best on the ACT® exam. The program provides the following resources for students and teachers:

  • Expert content review and practice, along with test taking tips and strategies delivered in the classroom via streaming video
  • Online, on-demand review (12 total modules, each approximately 40 minutes in duration) providing realistic timed practice for the ACT English & Reading sections OR WorkKeys sections that can be led from the classroom or used individually (online, on-demand) by students through May 2023
  • Consumable student workbooks for each subject to be completed as lecture content is watched and later used as a student study guide
  • Online timed assessments completed by students online will link back to module content for better understanding of student deficiencies
  • Administrator dashboard reflecting the video module completion progress of teachers assigned to proctor the review and/or individual student progress
  • On-demand support

The goal of the 2022-2023 Mississippi legislative pilot is to help selected high schools improve ACT composite English & Reading sub-score averages as well as ACT Workkeys assessment improvements and gain feedback and improvement research results from schools awarded the review course pilots.

Random school selection for the legislative pilot of the Jumpstart Test Prep Complete English & Reading Review for the 2022-2023 school year will be made from all applying schools with priority given to schools not previously selected, while ensuring representation across several demographics (i.e. geographic, school rating, ethnic make-up, free/reduced lunch indicators, etc.).

Please note that appropriated funds will cover all costs for these pilot programs and Jumpstart Test Prep will provide free student workbook delivery with school faculty orientation and training meeting.

Jumpstart Test Prep will meet to discuss our program and efficacy research with any interested district or school, regardless of their selection for either pilot. For more information regarding the Jumpstart Test Prep review program, email info@jumpstarttestprep.com.
