The Mississippi Department of Education, through the Office of Secondary Education, is pleased to announce that the Mississippi Legislature has made appropriation for Jumpstart Test Prep's Review & Support Programs including:
- Complete ACT® Review course to help prepare 11th grade public school students prior to mandatory ACT® testing in Spring 2024.
- Jumpstart StartUps® digital bellringers to utilize in the classroom to introduce and practice ACT® standards for public high grades 9-11, along with some middle school sites.
- Complete ACT WorkKeys® Review course to help prepare 10th - 12th grade CTE & high school students prior to ACT WorkKeys® job skills testing during the 2023-24 school year.
Jumpstart Test Prep's review courses were developed by Mississippi's 19-year STAR Teacher, and STAR Teacher Hall-of-Fame inductee Dot McClendon. These programs leverage her 40+ years of experience helping students perform their best on the ACT® and ACT® WorkKeys® exams. Each program provides the following resources for students and teachers:
- Teacher orientation and on-demand support for all programs
- Expert content review and practice, along with test-taking tips and strategies delivered in the classroom via streaming video
- Online, on-demand review providing realistic timed practice that can be led from the classroom or used individually by students via individual access accounts through May 2024
- Consumable student workbooks for each subject to be completed alongside video content and later used as a study guide
- Online timed assessments completed by students online links back to module content for better remediation of student deficiencies
- Administrator dashboard reflecting the video module completion progress of teachers assigned to proctor the review and/or individual student progress
The goal of the 2023-2024 Mississippi legislative pilot is to help randomly selected high schools improve ACT® & ACT® Workkeys® assessment scores and gain feedback and improvement research results from schools awarded the review course pilots.
Random school selection for the legislative pilot of the Jumpstart Test Prep Review programs for the 2023-2024 school year will be made from all applying schools with priority given to schools not previously selected, while ensuring representation across several demographics (i.e. geographic, school rating, ethnic make-up, free/reduced lunch indicators, etc.).
Please note that appropriated funds will cover all costs for these pilot programs, and Jumpstart Test Prep will provide free student workbook delivery with school faculty orientation and training meeting.
Jumpstart Test Prep will meet with any interested district or school, regardless of its selection for either pilot. For more information regarding the Jumpstart Test Prep review program, email info@jumpstarttestprep.com.
